Is it possible to get rid of glasses with laser treatments?

First of all, it is evaluated by examination and auxiliary tests that the patient is eligible or not for laser treatment. Myopia, Hypermetropia and Astigmatism can be corrected by laser treatment within certain limits.

What is LASIK?

LASIK, “Laser insitu keratomilieusis”, is the most common surgical treatment in the world to correct person's refractive errors. Under a microscope, a piece of corneal layer is removed and form of a flap. Then an excimer laser is applied to the bed of the cornea. Finally the flap is covered back in place.

What is PRK?

Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK) is the first laser method used to correct eye defects. PRK is a brief operation that is bloodless, painless and lasts a few minutes.

For laser application, the part of the cornea called the outermost epithelium is removed. After correcting the eye defect with excimer laser, the eye should be closed for one or more days to prevent rapid healing of the epithelium and to avoid excessive pain, or contact lens without protective number is placed. In some cases where LASIK can not be performed due to thin cornea PRK can be performed.
